On February 18, 2018, members of St. Vincent’s Youth Ministry in Cobleskill sponsored a “Pizza and Game Night” in the Parish Hall. Donna Pacatte, Maggie Pryor and Bonnie Nichols, parents of three of those members, helped plan and organize the event. More than 30 parishioners and friends attended the activities. They were treated to pizza, soda and many donated desserts. Children of all ages, as well as adults, played Catchphrase, Bounce Off, Pictionary, Twister, Connect 4, and board games including Chutes and Ladders, Risk, Sequence, etc. They also had a chance to try some ‘Minute to Win-It’ games. “We were so pleased with the turnout and everyone had a great time.” said Donna Pacatte, one of the organizers.
On Sunday, December 17th, members of the Youth Group at St. Vincent de Paul’s Catholic Community in Cobleskill delivered Christmas gift bags to 24 shut-in and/or elderly parishioners. They filled each bag with a mug, hot chocolate, tea, a puzzle, a pencil and pad, candies, tissues, soap and more. Names and addresses of the parishioners were provided by the Parish Office. Parents of the Youth Group members volunteered to drive and assist as needed. While delivering the bags, the youth were able to meet and chat with the older parishioners, and the older parishioners thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking with the younger members of the parish. The Youth Group received many letters of thanks and appreciation. After the deliveries were completed, everyone met back at the Church Hall to share stories about their visits. For everyone involved, including the youth, the parents/drivers, the Ministers, and the elderly, it was quite a memorable and heart-warming experience.
